If you lose an aligner, immediately switch to your previous aligner if available and contact our office as soon as possible to discuss the next steps or to order a replacement.

How do I handle soreness from new or adjusted braces?

Soreness after adjustments is normal. Soft foods and over-the-counter pain relievers can help, as can rinsing with a saltwater solution.

Can I fix a loose wire myself?

What to do if the braces are causing irritation?

Apply dental wax to the areas causing irritation to create a smooth surface. If the irritation persists, please get in touch with our office for further advice.

How can I prevent brackets from breaking?

Avoid hard and sticky foods that can break brackets. Use a mouthguard during sports activities to protect your braces.

What is the protocol if an aligner feels too tight?

If your aligner feels unusually tight, make sure you are wearing it for the recommended 22 hours a day; if it still feels too tight, contact us to ensure it's the correct aligner and that your treatment is on track.
